DAY-1  March 22nd    GOD LISTENS

Praise be to God! The day which started off with fine weather and the grace of God showering in abundance, was indeed one all would forget with difficulty. The inaugural meeting, which began a bit late due to the great number of "God's dearest people's" registration, started off with Mr. Bennett Enose, Director, Rainbow V.B.S 2008 delivering a speech which explained the reason for our presence there. The aim was explained and the themes for each day were briefed which led to the theme name: Kingdom of the Son: a Prayer Safari. Blessings were showered on the V B S by Rt. Rev. Dr. K.G Daniel  (Bishop of the CSI East Kerala Diocese) through an enlightening speech through stories, much to the delight of the kids. He then declared the VBS open, shortly followed by the opening of the website of the Prayer Safari. Rev. C.V. Mathew (Vicar of Marthoma parish, Ahmadi), Rev. Andrew Thompson (Chaplain of St. Paul's Anglican Church) and Rev. Jacob T Abraham (Vicar of St Paul's CSI Congregation, Ahmadi) blessed the occasion with their presence and prayers. The presence of Mrs. Latha Ninan (Headmistress Marthoma Sunday school Ahmadi) and Mr. Chandy Abraham (Headmaster St. Peters C.S.I Sunday school) was also an encouragement.

The worship session followed the inaugural function, lead by Mr. Bobby Kurien and Mrs. Annie Preetha. The worship team consisting of youngsters from different age groups put up a show worth mention! The prayer beat which upheld the theme of the VBS was enjoyed by young and old alike. The children, divided into three different categories according to age groups, then went on to their different areas of activity. Loud shouts of joy could be heard from the play area, whereas the shouting gave way to concentrated activity when it came to the crafts, and loud shouts of praise unto the Lord as the children imbibed the lessons, and learned the Lord's prayer through a different perspective. All the sessions added to the children’s enjoyment and personal involvement.

'The Kingdom of the Son' volunteer team worked away quietly beside each person who required help. The teachers were kept on their toes all the time by the "very active" members of the Kingdom of the Son!!! Refreshments followed and the day came pleasantly to an end with the children being waved goodbyes in their respective busses, asking away impatiently when they could return!!!!. All glory and praise to the Lord Almighty, who made this safari possible for us. All of us at the Safari pray that as each child moves out at the end, we see them off as active members ready to take on the world with the message of the Lord!!!!!!!!!

DAY-2  March 22nd    GOD PROVIDES

As expected, the children came in full of energy after Easter celebrations. They were still in the mood for celebrations, so what better place to be at than the Rainbow VBS!!!! . Day two began with songs of worship unto the Lord. The children jumped with joy to the steps of the prayer beat. Their lithe bodies swayed to the Safari beats of “harambe" (Get together) and Namsisu Mungu kwa (we praise God for...) as they shouted and thanked God for loving, listening and caring for each of them.

Much as they liked to sing and dance, they moved with fervor to their next sessions. While the tiny tots listened to how the Lord fed 5000, the middlers were happily involved in attaching eyes to their 'bread man', which reminded them time again how God provided for their needs. The boys painted the giraffe with colours that pleased their eyes, while the girls gleefully competed on making their giraffe better than the ones their friends had! Final touches were done by attaching the legs to their works of art. The Giraffe brought to young minds how God provides for every creature, how unique each of His creations is! Outside, the usually shy pre-teens were running round chairs each try to get to empty ones as the music stopped. They took turns in attending each session with joy. The Bible lesson dealt with how the Lord provides us with our needs of love, shelter, safety, bread and all we need. The students listened intently to how Jesus worked miracles when he fed 5000 with 5 loaves of barley bread and 2 fish that multiplied!!! Volunteers worked on their acting talents as they enacted the story. The sight of the church was worth beholding with animals hanging from the roof.

The day ended with the children learning in rhythm how Jesus turned the bread and fish from 5 and 2 to 500 and 200 and then again to 5000 and 2000 and the numbers kept increasing. They sang again the songs that they had learnt at the beginning. As the day came to an end, there were shouts for still more, but time was indeed running out. They moved out with their bags and surprise gifts, their stickers of animals and all that they had received.
The thing that makes the elders wonder is how fast and joyfully they listen and accept the word of Christ through all they do here. They are blessed and through them the elders are blessed too. How great is the Lord that he can make such bundles of joy who will one day carry forward His word unto the world beyond!!!

DAY-3  March 24th    GOD FORGIVES

Greetings to all in the precious name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ ! Praise God ,  our Safari has completed Day 3 ,the Zebra safari!!

Our theme for today was ‘GOD FORGIVES’ Today’s session started off with prayer by Bennett followed by singing . This is the most enjoyable session for all as we can see the oneness in spirit and worship. Children and adults enjoy the rhythmic  movements and  meaningful actions choreographed to the African beats. Songs in Swahili like Namsifu mungu kwa ..Harambe  praising God are a big hit with all present.

One can see the true praise and joy in worship in the children with their lively expressions and actions .The Word of God  based on FORGIVENESS was given by Rev. C. V. Mathew (vicar of Mar Thoma church, Ahmadi.) through a very meaningful but simple story of two children in a family. The story taught us the  importance of confessing  our sins, so that we can be free from the slavery to sin.

The children then dispersed into their respective groups and activities . While the word of God is being taught in the sanctuary, the craft session goes on quietly in the annex where children use their hands to colour, cut and paste and make interesting items. The open air games session   helps release their energy through new games  everyday. Today’s theme of God forgiving us  and the need for us to forgive others   were incorporated into the various activities. Light refreshments were served to all the children . teachers , volunteers  and staff.

The groups once again gathered back in the sanctuary after all the segments of activities . Testimonies by children of answered prayers were very encouraging even to the adults after which Mr. Rennil, our guest rendered a solo leading to the singing of ‘Jambo, Harambe, Lord’s prayer  amidst shouts of joy , praise and thanksgiving  to our King . Everyone looked forward to another exciting Safari Day!!
